TVM PRESENTS - S1/E1 - KAILA
26m
This episode will introduce Montreal born vocalist, KAILA PICARD, from where she started, to where she is now and where she hopes to be in the future. This episode will also detail her outlook on starting to sing at the age of 3 with her grand-father, during a family vacation, to Nova-Scotia, and learning the importance of self-motivation and self-discipline.
Kaila’s music is a cohesive fusion of 70s funk and pop laced with flecks of disco, dance and jazz that runs together in a rather refreshing fashion. After several independently released singles, Kaila came out with her first self-titled EP in 2013, a sweet compilation reminiscent of Donna Summer's disco attitude and Jamiroquai's funk. The Montreal-based artist cements her unique style with her latest releases, “Dreamland” and “Bang Bang”. Kaila has had the occasion to perform at various festivals, events and venues nation-wide, notably at La Ronde’s GRAVITY Concert in Montreal and at the 2014 JUNO Pre-Party in Winnipeg.
Kaila’s grandfather, a singer in a barbershop quartet, was the catalyzing figure that first ignited her passion for music and singing. As she became more serious about pursuing music as a career, she went to study jazz at Vanier College, calling it “the best decision I ever made in my life.”
